The MHFA England Instructor Training Programme enables you to deliver our MHFA or Youth MHFA course. Once you become an Instructor Member, you can attend upskill courses to add additional MHFA England courses to your portfolio. There is a cost involved with this.

You can also apply for extension training to deliver another MHFAider® course. For example, if you have trained in the MHFA course and also wished to deliver the Youth MHFA course.

Extension training

If you're already an MHFA England Youth Instructor Member and want to add the MHFA course to your delivery portfolio, you will need to apply for and complete the MHFA England Instructor Training Programme. You will then need to complete co-deliveries and receive good feedback to deliver the course.​

If you're already an MHFA Instructor Member in another country or another region of the UK and would like to deliver MHFA courses in England, please email training@mhfaengland.org

  3. Once you have completed the application form, it will be reviewed by our team. We aim to contact applicants within ten working days​

Upskills

Our upskill opportunities are designed to help you develop your skills as an Instructor Member.

Our three hour upskill courses will prepare you to deliver MHFA Champion or Mental Health Aware courses, in the same product area as the Mental Health First Aider course you are approved to deliver (Adult or Youth). Adding these additional courses to your portfolio enables you to reach a wider audience and increase mental health awareness further.

  • You must be an approved Instructor Member before you are able to book onto an upskill. Instructors-in-training cannot attend an upskill course until after completing their two co-deliveries and being approved as an Instructor Member

  • You must complete your upskill course before organising any deliveries of the new course. Upskills require a minimum number of attendees to be viable, and so may be subject to cancellations or postponement

Upskill courses cost between £236.08 and £273.16 (inc VAT) depending on the product you are upskilling in. To view the upskill courses currently available and reserve your place, log into your Instructor Member dashboard and go to the CPD Upskills section.
