"I became an MHFA England instructor because it fits with my personal mission. That is to help people spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health in themselves and in others. This enables early action to address the issues.

I learnt many life-altering techniques to help me recover and stay well when I experienced severe depression. Having to become ill before learning how to stay mentally healthy made no sense to me at all. I’m convinced that an early mental Health First Aid intervention would have prevented me from becoming so unwell.

Delivering MHFA England courses means I am equipping people with the tools to support others and to help keep themselves mentally fit. Which means equipping people to change lives."

Since MHFA England® was founded in 2007, our Instructor Members have provided training to over 20,000 workplaces. Together we’ve trained over one million people in mental health knowledge, awareness, and skills, including nearly 800,000 Mental Health First Aiders in England.

There are currently over 2,200 Instructor Members delivering our training courses in workplaces, schools, universities, and communities all over the country. All our Instructor Members have completed the MHFA England Instructor Training Programme, which is accredited by Royal Society for Public Health and means a quality assured and consistent training experience. MHFA England is licensed to provide this training by MHFA International. National Trainers deliver the MHFA England Instructor Training Programme, which you can hear more about from Trainer Sajda Butt, below.

By training with us, Instructor Members and the MHFAiders® they train will become members of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders® – England’s first and only membership body for Mental Health First Aiders.

Together, with a global community of over 60,000 international instructors, they are working towards a world where everyone has the confidence to support those experiencing poor mental health.
