At MHFA England®, we remain committed to driving positive changes in workplace mental health and enhancing team performance. We know, and research confirms, that wellbeing and productivity go hand in hand, and creating a workplace culture where individuals feel supported and empowered to bring their full selves to work is key to organisational success.
What is #techtimeout tuesday?
This 3 December 2024, we are excited to partner again with techtimeout to celebrate the annual ‘techtimeout tuesday’. This initiative encourages individuals and workplaces across the UK to pledge some time away from technology and do something else with this time!
This could include:
- Team activities
- Volunteer for a good cause
- Something else specific for your company
The campaign highlights the importance of digital wellbeing and its impact on overall health and workplace performance.
In 2023, organisations representing 1.6 million employees took part. Will you and your workplace join us in 2024?
After last year’s success, other brands are now getting behind the national awareness day that promotes digital wellbeing. For 2024, Cadbury’s TimeOut are joining the campaign helping to promote a healthier balance with tech.
Catharine Young, Marketing Director of Biscuits and Baked Snacks at Mondelez, shared, “At Mondelez, we prioritise our people’s well-being with initiatives like our annual ‘Unplug Day’, which was introduced in 2021 to provide employees with a day to switch off from work and focus their mind on other activities important to them. Additionally, we are proud to have qualified Mental Health First Aiders across all UK sites.
“Our Cadbury TimeOut bar encourages everyone to take a break and unwind, a shared goal with techtimeout tuesday—promoting time away from screens to enjoy meaningful moments.”
The importance of digital wellbeing
In today’s world, technology plays a vital role in both personal and professional spheres. However, research shows that constant connectivity and prolonged exposure to digital devices may lead to feelings of overwhelm, stress, and anxiety, impacting our overall wellbeing.
At MHFA England, we believe that by raising awareness of digital wellbeing in the workplace, we can enhance both individual and team performance. When employees feel supported, they work better together, fostering a more vibrant and productive workplace.
Why #techtimeout tuesday?
The techtimeout tuesday campaign is an excellent opportunity for organisations to encourage their employees to take a mindful break from screens and engage in offline activities.
By participating in this day, companies can:
- Prioritise employee wellbeing: Show a strong commitment to the wellbeing and happiness of employees by encouraging digital balance
- Strengthen team cohesion: Shared offline activities help boost camaraderie, creating a more collaborative and supportive work environment
- Promote digital balance: Breaks from technology can reduce stress and help employees regain focus and improve overall productivity
- Raise awareness: Participating in this campaign brings attention to the critical issue of digital wellbeing and its effect on mental health

“At MHFA England, we continue to walk the talk as a national authority on workplace mental health and wellbeing. That is why we are proud to partner with and take part in ‘techtimeout Tuesday’ again this year on 3 December.
“We will mark the day with some activities that help develop our individual and collective understanding of digital wellbeing. I hope you will get involved too.”
