Earlier this week, a consultation was launched to help shape the future of the NHS over the next decade.

Sarah McIntosh, MHFA England Chief Executive, said:

“We welcome the commitment and focus of Wes Streeting to improve the NHS and the health of the nation. The 10-year Health Plan cannot come soon enough, and the emphasis on three core themes—digitalisation, shifting from hospitals to community care, and moving from sickness to prevention—while not new, are crucial to ensuring an NHS fit for the future.

The consultation approach, which invites input from NHS staff, volunteers, patients, healthcare providers, suppliers, the wider health sector, and the general public, is a refreshing and vital step. However, successful consultations that lead to meaningful change depend on people and organisations making their voices heard. We encourage everyone to use this opportunity to shape the future of our NHS.

Over the coming weeks we will be engaging with our MHFA England community – Instructor Members, MHFAiders, clients and learners – encouraging them to feed into this vital consultation.  MHFA England will also be submitting a formal response to the consultation, focusing on the importance of prevenatative measures across our society.”
