Last week, Head of MHFA England’s Client Experience Team, Jaan Madan, was invited, along with Nigel Jones, chair of the City Mental Health Alliance, to participate in a podcast hosted by Financial Times journalist Emma Jacobs, to talk about why mental health at work matters. There is a clear business case for doing something about mental health in the workplace, but as the group discuss, it's an issue some companies don’t always handle well.

During the twelve minute podcast, Nigel, Jaan and Emma discuss engaging senior leaders in the workplace, personal experiences of mental ill health, changing approaches to mental health and understanding the impact at different levels of an organisation. They explore the influence of technology on our lives, the relationship this has to stress in the workplace and give insights into business research and strategies to implementing positive changes. Strategies including Mental Health First Aid training programmes, which ultimately aim to give employees knowledge and understanding of mental health in the interest of creating a healthier workplace for everyone.
