Overview

Empower managers to put wellbeing at the heart of their leadership approach

Managers today face growing pressures — balancing their own workload, managing rising demands, and navigating ongoing uncertainty, all while supporting the wellbeing of their teams. Many feel underprepared and lack the skills or confidence to have meaningful conversations about mental health.

Managers shape the heart of work—nearly 70% of people say their manager influences their mental health as much as a partner, far more impact than that of doctors (51%) or therapists (41%). ((UKG, Mental Health at Work)

Fewer than 29% of organisations provide line managers with mental health training. For those that do, 73% report their managers feel confident having sensitive discussions and signposting support (CIPD, 2025).

Mental Health Skills for Managers gives managers at all levels the tools to have meaningful conversations about mental health and wellbeing – enabling individuals, teams, and the wider organisation to thrive.

This course will build on your managers’ current experience and provide a practical structure around the conversations they are already having.

By investing in this training, you will be giving your managers the skills and confidence to have conversations about mental health and encourage staff to seek early support.

Testimonial for Mental Health Skills for Managers

"We wanted our less experienced people managers to feel able to open up conversations about mental health with team members. This course was really helpful in laying down the foundations to give our managers both the skills and the confidence to start these potentially difficult conversations.

The trainer was excellent and for a course that was delivered all online, it was still as interactive as if you were there in person. They kept us engaged with all of us drawing on a shared whiteboard and group work in breakout rooms to role play potential scenarios. We were impressed with how slick the online experience was and appreciated how attentive MHFA England were before the course to understand our needs."
