Personal Details

<p>I have been an MHFA instructor since 2010.  During that time I have delivered many two day courses and also the Lite 3 hour course.</p>

<p>Although based in the West Midlands I am prepared to deliver the course anywhere in the United Kingdom and to also assist new instructors gain accreditation.</p>

<p>I am proud to be part of MHFA and it's campaign to promote mental health literacy.</p>

<p>In addition to the above I have worked in the mental health field for over 25 years with two local Mind associations in the West Midlands. During this time I have managed day services, a residential unit and a training department.</p>

<p>I believe it is important that we are able to promote mental wellbeing to all ages so that we are all supported to maintain good mental health.</p>

<p>Over the past few years I have also delivered many other courses in relation to emotional wellbeing including identify and managing stress in the workplace.</p>

<p>Having been a youth worker for many years I now deliver courses into schools directly to the children and young people as well as to members of staff.  I am able to tailor courses to suit specific requirements.</p>

<li>Originally joined the organisation as Deputy Day Centre Manager to develop weekend, evening and bank holiday provision.</li>
<li>Seconded to Care Home Manager managing one of their units through a period of restructure and refurbishment and to develop staff.  </li>
<li>Day Service Manager managing a large provision which was open 365 days a year and offering courses, therapies and activities.  I was also managing a staff team and developing their knowledge and experience including therapeutic gardening.</li>
<li>Seconded to set up Training Department and to research the viability of delivering training externally.  I was on the steering group for Sandwell Borough for the training of all staff on the Mental Capacity Act.</li>
<li>Seconded for a period of 12 months to the position of Business Development Manager.  In this role I was involved in the revising of various existing policies and producing some new ones.</li>
<li>During my time with this organisation I acted as supervisor for Social Work students, arranged various exhibitions and other events both for publicity and also fundraising, gave presentations and delivered training sessions to many different organisations and individuals.</li>
<li>I also took the lead in achieving Investors in People Gold Award and also the Quality Management in Mind assessment.</li>
<li>In addition I was also the lead for Quality and Health and Safety.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong><u>Mind In Birmingham – 7 years</u></strong></p>

<li>Initially Socialisation Officer looking at various training opportunities then Residential Care Officer working in one of the residential units.  In addition to general duties such as issuing medication I took the lead on benefit advice.</li>

<p><strong><u>Age Concern  – 4 years</u></strong></p>

<li>Originally employed as Training and Development Officer, then Chief Officer. I managed paid staff, volunteers and developed networks with local press.  During this time I managed budgets and sourced funding for specific projects in addition to developing services to identified needs.</li>

<li>Recruiting and training a network of volunteers to work in a variety of settings.  Developing an overall plan for the organisation.  Sourcing funding opportunities in order to develop resources and projects.</li>

<li>I was employed as Member Relations Officer directly responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall strategy of educational provision within a large area.  Managing a large budget I promoted co-operative principles through conferences, organisations and the media providing a lead on educational policy for the members of the society.  Representing the society I attended many national conferences presenting motions and outlining plans for the future.</li>
</ul>

<p> <u>In addition to the foregoing I have held positions within industry and commerce having worked directly to Chairmen and Directors of large companies and also as Export Manager for a company trading in Africa.</u></p>
