Personal Details

Hello. My name is Dave and I have been a Mental Health First Aid instructor for about 6 years now. I live in Aldershot but was born in Newcastle and lived for most of my childhood on the coast in Whitley Bay. I have 4 kids that are kind of grown up but still hound me at home which can be a bit of a stress but also amazing to have them close by. I recently turned 50 and half of that time was spent serving in the armed forces, 26 years in the end. Married young, 30 years now and continue to look forward.

My mental health is sound and since I attended the 2 day MHFA course and then the Instructor course I have had a wholesale different approach to myself and to others.

I feel that I am a much better person than I used to be.

Work Experience

After leaving the army in 2015 I moved into the construction sector as a project manager. After a short time doing that and realising it wast for me I then went into Health and Safety consultancy which is what ia still do now. I work for a Trade Association called CONSTRUCT Concrete Structures Group, a company called CONSTRUCTIONARIUM which allows people to have a hands on construction experience. I also do some H&S consultancy work for construction companies in the South East.

I have delivered numerous courses from MHFA across England face to face and online. I much prefer face to face training as I believe it is better to have physical presence without distractions within a safe class room environment. I have also delivered MH talks and performed as a Mental Health First Aider to some people in need.
