Personal Details
Having worn my own good mental health as a naive badge of honour for so many years, after a particularly difficult period in my life back in 2012 I finally acknowledged that I was not invincible and needed to look after my own wellbeing more. I embarked on a journey to understand more about mental health, resilience, positive wellbeing and the benefits of a balanced life. Fast forward to now – I am passionate about helping others to do the same! Especially when it comes to mental health, I want to reduce the stigma, normalise talking about our mental health, and to share my own story to help others.
Combining my years as an HR & Training Professional and my personal experiences of mental health and ill health, and as a Neurodiversity & Resilience Coach and trained Mental Health First Aid Instructor, I want to make a difference educating, guiding and supporting individuals and organisations to make mental health and wellbeing a priority.
Work Experience
I have worked in HR & Training for around 20 years, in a variety of industries - hospitality, retail, financial & legal services - and for 3 years as part of a consultancy providing advice and support to around 40,000 clients across all sectors, from SMEs to large multi-national corporations.
In recent years I have noticed a marked increase in the number of absences and workplace issues related to mental health and the impact this has on both individuals and organisations, both in cost and lost working time.
I'm also late diagnosed with ADHD and bring my lived experience and coaching qualifications and skills to neurodiversity strategy coaching, helping individuals to build a toolkit to support their challenges, to recognise and embrace their strengths and to find the confidence to advocate for their needs in both their professional and personal lives.
I am therefore passionate about reducing stigma, increasing awareness and building skills in managers to support their teams, and for colleagues to support each other and themselves to maintain good mental health and speak more openly.
In addition to my professional work, I also volunteer as a facilitator for a small local Mental Health charity working alongside trained counsellors to provide a safe space for individuals to learn more about mental health conditions, share their lived experiences, discuss coping strategies and build a support network. I also co-lead a coaching network in Sheffield, and am a Brownie Guide leader too!
