Personal Details

Jo-Anna Sell is accredited with the only UK’s Suicide Prevention National Qualification, a trained talking therapist specialising in counselling for drugs and alcohol addiction, a qualified Mental Health First Aid England Instructor to deliver the two day Adult Mental Health First Aid course, Refresher, One Day Champion Course and the Adult Mental Health Aware Half Day course which can now also all be delivered online aswell as face to face.

Jo sits on a panel who meet quarterly at the House of Lords to discuss Mental Health in the Workplace and implementing change through sharing best practices and has a huge passion for supporting Mental Health in the workplace, Jo believes that we spend so much of our time at work if we are not properly supported at work, then that can have a knock on effect to all parts of our life and truly believes our mental health is the most important thing for us to look after, both in ourselves and others.

So far Jo has trained over 3,000 people and organised hundreds of Mental Health Events and Training courses.

Apart from her passion for well-being, Jo loves dogs, any dog (well any animal really!) and has three dogs of her own (and would have more if she could!) and says that her dogs are the best medicine for her! She also love being outdoors, sunshine, theatre, music and the sound of laughter.


Work Experience

Jo-Anna is the Founder of Kind, an award winning Mental Health Training and Wellbeing Training Events Company.

Previously to KIND, Jo worked as a Project Manager and Executive Assistant in the Pharmaceutical industry for over 15 years and has been responsible for leading change in how Mental Health is supported within the Workplace within one of the largest global pharmaceutical companies.

Whilst in her previous role, Jo drove the Mental Health in the Workplace project forward for 4 years supporting hundreds of employees in the UK and worked with her global counterparts to help drive forward change worldwide across the business and help start a culture change eradicating workplace stigma for the company's 71,000 worldwide employees.

Jo is an experienced professional, with both management and leadership experience.

Before leaving her previous company, Jo lead a team of 8 Mental Health project members from across her previous company and head up the MHFA team of 60 ensuring staff were supported through many newly implemented systems such as a Mental Health First Aid team, the Employee Assistance programme, wellbeing clinics, regular events and awareness days and worked for 18 months to design a bespoke training programme to train all 360 managers to be Mental Health Aware and give them the toolkit they requested to give consistent, compassionate and correct Mental Health and Wellbeing support to all their team members.

This work saw Jo nominated last year in the This Can Happen Awards (the Uk's largest Mental Health Conference) for the Most Inspiring Employee and Best Mental Health in the Workplace Strategy, this work also helped play a key part in the company winning Top Employer 2018 and 2019.
