Personal Details
My name is Antony Dowell, and have worked for Imagine Independence for over 20 years. As a national Mental Health charity (based in Liverpool), we work with a wide range of organisations to raise awareness around the stigma of mental health, with our main income coming from supporting individuals to transform their lives by valuing their role in society.

I am Imagine’s Campaigns and Partnerships Officer which includes delivering accredited mental health awareness training to schools, businesses and public sector organisations. Prior to this I was a manager with over 15 years front-line and service management/development experience.
I am passionate about social inclusion, working to create a community where work, education, friends/family and recreation play a vital part in good mental wellbeing. My goal is for everyone to have the skills to support their own mental health as well as those around them.
Work Experience
Over five years ago, when I took on my current role, I trained to be a Mental Health First Aid instructor; training over 2000 people in MHFA England courses to date – this includes to HR, managers, main workforce, youth workers, teachers, supervisors and volunteers.
I have now up-skilled to be able to deliver MHFAEngland's Latest Mental Health First Aider Course and the Youth MHFA courses.
Most recently I have worked with South London CCG and Merton Council to deliver their staff mental health awareness programme, and have a wide range of companies including the Charity Sector who come to Imagine for their Mental Health Training because of our values.
I sit on the Merseyside Scouts Mental Health Co-ordinator’s Steering Group and have done consultancy/secondments with Health & Social Care Advisory Service (HASCAS) and NHS England Personal Health Budgets programme and piloted specialist Employment Support schemes for a number of local authorities.
