I have worked for YMCA Birmingham for 10 years and during that time I have fulfilled a number of roles working with and helping, not only our clients within the YMCA, but the Young People of Birmingham.
I have a real desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives which has lead me to become a qualified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.
My passion lies in being able to show people how to spot early signs of a mental health illness, including warning signs of common mental health issues , how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person towards appropriate treatment and other sources of supportive help.
I want to work with businesses to help them understand the issues that face not only those suffering with mental health issues but also those around and supporting them.
My current role as a trainer for the YMCA involves me delivering various courses ranging from Employability programmes, bespoke training courses and qualifications. As part of this role, I have now embarked on my Mental Health First Aid Instructor training which has been a real passion of mine for many years.
My previous roles are all within YMCA Birmingham where i have worked as an Engagement Officer offering support and guidance to the residents within our supported living scheme. I specialised in supporting the lone parents and their children who had identified support needs including mental health.
