We partnered with RSPH to create our Ofqual regulated MHFAider® qualification. Established in 1856, RSPH is an independent campaigning and educational charity dedicated to improving and protecting the health of the public.
RSPH is the world’s oldest public health body. It awards 40,000 qualifications annually and is the UK’s leading Ofqual regulated Qualifications Awarding Organisation in public health. MHFA England and RSPH share the belief that mental health is a public health issue. Together, we can create a society where everyone’s mental health matters.
We’re not just the national authority on mental health first aid. We’re workplace mental health experts too, with nearly two decades of experience and a deep understanding of workplace cultures.
We deliver inclusive, market-leading, and evidence-based mental health training and consultancy, creating mentally healthy workplaces where people, communities, and business thrive.
As a social enterprise we reinvest our profits into providing quality mental health training to those who need it most. That includes the NHS and community groups supporting young people.
Since MHFA England was founded in 2007, our Instructor Members have provided training to over 20,000 workplaces. To date, we’ve trained over one million people in mental health knowledge, awareness, and skills, including nearly 800,000 MHFAiders in England.
We’re the largest provider of quality mental health training
Created with the help of clinical experts and those with lived experience, our training is grounded in research. We help people recognise the signs of poor mental health, gain the confidence to start a conversation, and know how to signpost to professional support.

“The MHFAider® qualification is an exciting step forward in the evolution of this critical training. This formalises the knowledge learners have and gives the training extra weight. I think it will help people understand that MHFAiders® have been through a rigorous training process and are safe to be approached. The process felt very safe and well managed – there was support throughout and the questions really made me think about how embedded the learning had been. I now have a well-earned RSPH Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid!” Jane Cattermole, Founder / Director Mainly, Mental Health
