A message from our Chief Executive, Simon Blake

“Congratulations on becoming a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®), and welcome to the largest MHFAider® community in England. We want to give the best support to our MHFAiders®, equipping you with the confidence and knowledge to use your MHFA skills effectively.

The pandemic highlighted huge health disparities. This has been compounded by phenomenal changes in the way we live and economic uncertainty and as a consequence, we know there are higher numbers of people experiencing mental ill health. MHFAiders® continue to play a vital, and sometimes literally life-saving role in supporting people.

It is imperative that you feel confident, motivated and supported so you can continue this invaluable work. That is why we have created this package of support helping you continue your learning, development and confidence over the next three years.

Thank you for joining the MHFA England MHFAider® Community. We are with you all the way.”

A guide to your MHFAider® digital support and benefits

As an MHFAider® you have three years of access to resources and exclusive content to support your learning and build your confidence, through our Online Learning Hub and the MHFAider Support App®. This is a mobile (iOS and Android) and web app that MHFA England has developed to help you carry out your role more effectively.

The MHFAider Support App® is an essential part of your toolkit for success and continued growth as an MHFAider®.

When we took to updating the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course, we listened to feedback from our Instructor Members, learners and clinical experts.

Our insight showed us that learners wanted more support once they completed the course, to help ease them into the role as they begin to support the mental health of others independently.

Through the MHFAider Support App® you will receive:

  • Unrivalled and exclusive resources and content to support your continued learning
  • Secure reflective note-taking
  • Insights that teach critical self-care skills
  • 24/7 text support service through Shout
  • Access to Hub of Hope, a national mental health database of local and national mental health advice and support services
