Personal Details
Hello! My name is Pete and I am the Business Operations Manager for Mind in Croydon where I have worked for over 17 years. I am also a qualified MHFA Instructor Member.
So a bit about me, well I am a people person and I like to help others, which is why I am doing what I do. I also love animals and have two dogs and a cat, and when I was was 21 (a long time ago!) I volunteered at the National Seal Sanctuary in Cornwall, which was an amazing experience. The seals were great to work with but they didn't like it when we emptied and cleaned the pools...in other words, seals love fish, but hate brooms!!
I have never been diagnosed with having a mental health issue but I have experienced anxiety. In hindsight I should have spoken to someone about it, as talking can help and I may have got the support I needed sooner.
We all have mental health and 1 in 4 of us will struggle with our mental health, and that's okay because we all experience poor physical health e.g. colds/flu, body injury etc, and if that's okay then it's okay to have poor mental, right?! Like physical health we need to look after our mental health, and we need to treat it as soon as possible when it's not good. This can start with MHFA.
Work Experience
Over 17 years experience working in mental health, both on the frontline as a project worker, and as a manager for Mind in Croydon, a leading mental health charity within the London Borough of Croydon.
Mind in Croydon has over 50 years experience of delivering services in the local community, the charity also has good knowledge of local and national statutory, health and third sector service provision.
Anyone attending our courses will be equipped with the relevant contact information and resources they need to be an effective and efficient Mental Heal First Aiders.
