Personal Details
Having spent 30+ years working in the Automotive Sector, 15 in Sales, Management and Training. Latterly, 17 successful years in the IT / Dealer Management System (ERP) space. I have witnessed first-hand and many times over, the negative impact that modern working cultures and environments can have on both individuals and the organisations for which they work. The contemporary work environment can be highly pressured and target driven, making it particularly prone to exerting pressure on individuals. This can and does create/exacerbate mental ill health issues.
It was the experience of seeing these negative effects that inspired me to qualify to become a Mental Health First Aid Trainer.
I am passionately committed to improving the culture of the working environment (thus benefiting staff, their employers and their customers) but also wider society to try and address the stigma and discrimination that pervade over this issue . I aim to make working environments a more compassionate and humane place for employees to spend their working lives. Work Experience
I have been delivering MHFA courses for almost four years, during which time I have delivered hundreds of courses to thousands of delegates. I derive enormous satisfaction from working in this environment and thrive on the interaction of the groups as we explore and discuss the course materials. I strive to keep things safe and relaxed to ensure that delegates enjoy the experience as well as learn such valuable skills and knowledge.
After courses all delegates are invited to give optional, anonymous feedback via the MHFA England website. The fact that this is anonymous is hugely important as it ensure the feedback is honest and candid. The feedback I receive is consistently positive and complimentary. Recurrent themes are that delegates find the courses stimulating, informative, eye opening and very moving. They also report that they appreciate the atmosphere as being supportive and a "safe place" in which to explore the topics.
