Personal Details

I live in the Peak District with my wife and we both enjoy being active in the great outdoors.

I write a blog called Andy's Landie, which features my classic 1973 Land Rover and discusses Wellbeing and mental strength. This is part of my strategy of overcoming a flashback I had to a patient trapped in a Land Rover following an IED attack, whilst I worked as a paramedic on the RAF rescue helicopter on the battlefields of Afghanistan.

Work Experience

I have just completed 20 years in Emergency services, mostly as a paramedic on Search and Rescue helicopters. I have been a medical and aviation trainer in the military and civilian SAR.

I deliver Human Factors training to NHS clinicians and aircrew. I have also delivered face-to-face and online medical training to civilians providing humanitarian relief in the Syrian crisis.

I now believe I will save more lives through Mental Health campaigning, speaking and Mental Health First Aid training, rather than dangling under a rescue helicopter.

I'm an ambassador for Movember & have a mission to reduce male suicide rates in the UK & beyond.
