I'm based on the South Coast, near Portsmouth, but am happy to travel.
Work Experience
I'm the owner of Claro Training.
<p>My background is originally as a medic in the Royal Air Force, working in primary and secondary care, and latterly aeromedical evacuation.</p>
<p>For almost 20 years I worked as a Welfare Officer & Service Delivery Manager with the Defence Medical Welfare Service, providing practical and emotional support to patients and families, often at the most difficult times. This included several years in Northern Ireland, and operational deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. I then spent five years leading the Training department at DMWS, delivering MHFA and other courses (including design and development) both internally and to external clients.
I set up Claro Training to enable me to focus on delivering MHFA training.
I've delivered courses across various sectors including corporate, defence, local government, third sector and NHS. I've also advised organisations on how best to support staff mental health; for example, through the use of peer supporters.
<p>Outside work, I'm a Governor for South Central Ambulance Service, and a Board Member of the Institute of Welfare. I'm a Member of the Order of St John.
