As more young people are being diagnosed with a mental health condition it is essential that we provide an environment where it is safe to talk about mental health and to understand how early intervention can help with recovery. This course will give you the skills, confidence and knowledge to support a young person who may be suffering or in crisis. Suitable for anyone that supports a young person aged 8-18. The course covers: What is mental health? Issues that young people face Depression and anxiety Suicide and psychosis Self-harm and eating disorders Research and evaluation shows that taking part in an MHFA course: Raises awareness and mental health literacy Reduces stigma around mental ill health Boosts knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental health issues Promotes early intervention which enables recovery The course is held at the beautiful Kings Weston House in Bristol just outside the city centre and the fees include lunch and refreshments throughout the day. There is free parking outside. Course fee is £195.00. About our trainers; Angela McMillan is an accredited psychotherapist with over ten years' experience counselling children and young people in a variety of settings including schools and sixth form colleges. She has worked for a number of high profile organisations including Childline and Mind. Our trainers place wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We focus on empowering others to understand, listen, support, and signpost.
