Creating psychologically safe, high-performing workplaces

My Whole Self is the campaign for workplace culture change from MHFA England.

Launched in 2020, My Whole Self supports organisations to build psychologically safe, inclusive cultures. We want workplaces where people are safe to speak up, share ideas, ask questions, and be themselves at work, without fear of judgement or negative consequences.

When people feel psychologically safe, they’re more engaged, more creative, and better able to perform at their best. Teams collaborate more effectively, innovation thrives, and wellbeing and productivity go hand in hand.

Celebrate identity. Strengthen performance

My Whole Self Day takes place every year on the second Tuesday in March. In 2026, it falls on Tuesday 10 March.

My Whole Self Day is a national moment for workplaces to come together and celebrate the diverse identities, experiences, and perspectives that make teams stronger. It should also be part of a year-round commitment to building cultures where people are safe, valued, and included.

By bringing together inclusion, wellbeing, and performance, My Whole Self helps organisations create the conditions where everyone can thrive.

What is psychological safety?

Psychological safety has been shown to strengthen productivity, performance, engagement, and retention. At its core, psychological safety is about trust and respect.

It means:

  • Colleagues listen without judgement
  • Leaders model openness and vulnerability
  • People feel safe to admit mistakes, ask questions, and challenge ideas
  • All voices are encouraged to contribute

What’s new for My Whole Self 2026

My Whole Self toolkit

For 2026, we've created a new My Whole Self Day toolkit to make it even easier for workplaces to take part and embed long-term culture change.

The new toolkit:

  • Focuses on psychological safety and its impact on productivity and performance
  • Includes practical activities for teams, managers, and leaders
  • Supports organisations to move beyond awareness and take meaningful, everyday action
  • Sits alongside our wider My Whole Self resource library and guidance

Join the national My Whole Self webinar

To mark My Whole Self Day 2026, we’ll be hosting a free public webinar on 10 March 2026.

“Psychological safety: The productivity superpower”, will explore:

  • What psychological safety really looks like at work
  • Why it’s a key driver of communication, collaboration, and performance
  • How managers and teams can take practical steps to strengthen it

Explore past My Whole Self resources

My Whole Self supports long-term culture change, not just one day of activity. Alongside our 2026 toolkit, we have a range of materials to support learning, reflection, and action throughout the year.

These resources can be used to deepen understanding of psychological safety, strengthen team connection, and support inclusive, high-performing workplaces.

They help workplaces take a consistent, sustained approach to building cultures where people feel safe to speak up, be themselves, and perform at their best.

Real workplaces. Real impact

Now in its seventh year, more than 200 organisations – including Skanska, Ford, the National Crime Agency, Experian and many NHS Trusts – have taken part in My Whole Self.

Organisations tell us the campaign has helped them:

  • Open up conversations around identity, wellbeing, and performance
  • Strengthen psychological safety within teams
  • Improve engagement, connection, and inclusion
  • Support managers to lead with confidence
